Trogir to Dubrovnik travel

On September 10, I need to meet my tour group at Dubrovnik Airport at 3pm. I planned to travel to Dubrovnik that day by bus from Split, but will be staying in Trogir. I have been searching websites to find out whether I can get from Trogir to Split in time to catch a bus that gets to Dubrovnik in time for me to get to the airport by 3pm (following here?). There is a 10am bus from Split due to arrive in Dubrovnik at 2.30 - I am not sure where - this seems to be cutting it fine to be at the airport by 3pm. Before 10am there is a 6.15 am - nothing in between it seems, but not sure of I can get from Trogir to Split at that time of day to catch it.
Or should I just go to Dubrovnik one day earlier? Or stay in Split, not Trogir? Advice?

I see an 8:00-12:00 bus from Split to Dubrovnik on www.buscroatia.com (but no option to buy it online). It's bus #330 if you search and page down. I think it's with this company:

http://www.autobusni-kolodvor.com/au...inj_1_204.aspx
https://plus.google.com/117315073312...ut?gl=us&hl=en

I don't see an email address - maybe you can find one, but you could try calling them at least and see if you can find an English speaker and confirm that this bus exists and whether you can buy it when you arrive in Croatia or maybe just at the station in Split that morning.

There is nothing to worry about, there are bus times to suit you for sure. The trouble with companies like Bus Croatia is that they only show services they are affiliated to, so cannot be relied on.
Look on www.ak-split.hr for the full picture.

OK thanks folks - there definitely seems to be an 8am bus. The only concern now is that there will be public transport from Trogir to Split that early in the day to catch that 8am bus. Again the timetables and site seem to have a lot of advice about Split to Trogir but not vice versa.

Well, I saw an early bus that would get you into Split from Trogir about an hour before the 8AM bus. You'd have to get up early, but I see no problem with it. I once took a 4AM-ish Croatia Airlines bus from the center of Split to the airport to catch a 6AM flight. You won't have to get up as early as I did!

If you want a non-intuitive way to make this same trip - probably taking not much longer but costing a little more - you could fly from Split to Dubrovnik but you'd have to connect in Zagreb with a long layover. On the upside: it would get you directly to the Dubrovnik airport. Trogir is really close to the Split airport, a lot closer than the center of Split is. The upside would be two short plane rides and twiddling your thumbs at the tiny Zagreb airport for a few hours instead of two short bus rides and one long bus ride down the coast.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for that, most reassuring. And your flying idea has some merit except the bus trip is also about seeing some of the countryside on this my first foray to Croatia, before heading to Bosnia then an island-hopping bike/boat cruise from Dubrovnik. You seem to spend a bit of time in that part of the world. If it's as amazing as everyone says hopefully I'll be back again.
Cheers

I probably don't spend as much time there as it appears - I just completed my second trip to Croatia, and I also did a separate trip to Slovenia. But I have done a lot of research and am somewhat familiar with connection options, even those I wound up not taking.

I agree with you about seeing the countryside from the bus vs. the plane. You'll see more that way.

I didn't love everything in Croatia (or Bosnia), but I enjoyed enough to want to go back. Somehow, it's an intriguing area, even the parts I didn't love.

Again nothing to worry about, there are buses from Trogir to get you into Split on time. Timetable on www.trogironline.com

Thanks team. My google searches weren't as effective as yours! Happily booked now into a place in Trogir (Concordia) recommended to me by friends.
