There are three or four very nice hotels across the plaza from the train station -- I think I stayed in the Grand Hotel Trento which was fabulous.
Also, there is a 4-star restuarant in Trento where I had the best meal of my life. It is just across the plaza from the Duomo, and down a little alley.
(It was a few years ago and I have a bad memory, but I can look it up).

we stayed at the boscolo hotel. it might have the word "grand' in it.
we paid 50 euros/night through www.bancotel.com.
we love this chain.
there is another one in vicenza. we paid a bit more there.. but if we had moved our date around..(which i didn't realize until after the fact) we also could have stayed at that 4 star hotel for 50 euros.
we really enjoyed trento.
hope to go further north next time.

I haven't stayed in Trento in several years, but we stayed several times in the Hotel America. The staff were very nice and the rooms pleasant. We ate in a great restaurant. If it is still in business, you might ask about it. It is called the Ristorante Chiesa. It was built in the lower portion, originally the stable, of a convent. We loved Trento, a lovely city, enjoy!
