travel from rome to amalfi coast

Hello,

My fiance and I are are traveling from the Fiumucino airport and would like to get to the town of Amalfi. We would love the option of the ferry for our introduction to the coast but our flight arrives at 12:40 and the last ferry as I understand leaves from Salerno at 15:30.

Does anyone have an idea if it is possible to make the last ferry?

Thank you!

Gfrance

The date would help, as train and services vary a little over the season!

But as far as Trenitalia goes, nothing that I can see to get you there in time for that last boat...

Obvious alternatives...

- either two buses, or a car/taxi, from Salerno

- get off at Naples instead, then train to Sorrento and bus to Positano, or a car/taxi for either or both those 'legs'

This may give some idea of the public transport routes and journey times "ashore"...

... but note that many of the SITA buses will have new timetables as from June 15th!

You need to allow at least an hour to get from your plane (assuming it's on time) to the train station in the airport (maybe longer if you need to retrieve luggage, use the ATM, etc.). From FCO to Rome, the train travel time is 30 minutes and trains depart every 30 minutes so that can add another hour. Train travel time from Rome to Salerno is 2+ hours (depending on train). As you can see, no way you would make a ferry at that time.

Oops - for these, the new schedules appear to start on June 10th... usually they'll then run until the schools reopen, in early September:

Amalfi - Salerno
Amalfi - Positano - Sorrento e diramazioni
Amalfi - Tramonti
Amalfi - Agerola
Amalfi - Scala - Ravello
Amalfi - Pogerola

andranno in vigore dal 10/06

As per the notice dated 28 May here - where you'll also find the CURRENT bus schedules, at the foot of the page:
