Looking to go to Budapest, Vienna & Praague..have never done a tour package before. Would like to know if it is really more cost effective to book this way (saw good prices on Gate!) even if we don't go on the bus tours, just to get better hotel & airfare rates. If we did it independenty we would probably book 3 or 4* hotels. We are from the US.

Look at Laifer Tours for packages to these three cities. They certainly beat what I could get when I did Prague and Vienna. And I was quite happy with the flights and hotels. Transfers were also included.

thanks...Laifer looks really good. How many days do you think we need in each city, and what hotels would you recommend. Did you do his standard pkg. or customize it.

I did the standard for Vienna and Prague, staying at the Rathauspark and the Maximillian. I see he's switched up the hotel offerings slightly since then and those two aren't offered together anymore. Both of these were great. If you click on my name or search, I did a trip report on this back in 10/04.

I did three nights in each city, which was ok for Vienna, but I would've liked one more day in Prague.
