Thanksgiving in Padova

My wife & I are thinking about a trip to Padova to visit family for 12 days around Thanksgiving week. What are your thoughts on the best day trips or one nighters from Padova other then Venice? Thanks for your input.

Of course, Lake Garda and its environs would always be a pleasant diversion. From Sirmione in the south to Riva in the north, there are lots of neat lakeside villages to explore.

A day trip or overnight to Bolzano is pretty nice, as is an overnight to Cortina with a trip through the Dolomites.

Finally, in the other direction, consider Ferrara, an often neglected gem of a city with lovely buildings, piazzas, cathedrals. It's a bit farther but not a bad trip. Good luck.

I agree about the Brenta, and Bologna is also a good day trip. Also, perhaps a day trip to Mantova (Mantua), depending on the train schedule (will you have your own car?)--it's a very often overlooked town with lots of art by Mantegna and some wonderful piazzas, palazzos, churches etc. It also might give you a small taste of Lombardia without having to go all the way to Milano.

Treviso should also be nice, Vicenza, Verona, Ferrara (all mentioned before). You are lucky to be based in Padova!
