Santorini- Canaves Hotel or Suites?
We are looking for a room with more outside than in.
Can someone tell me if Canaves Suites has been renovated? I know the hotel has.
My wife and I are really looking to chill in Santorini and envision a large balcony with chaise lounge chairs and outdoor jacuzzi.
i understand this may be available in a Superior Suite in Canaves Suites.
Some posters have stated that Canaves Suites can use some renovation.
Anybody been there recently?
Thanks!

Hey brother; I can only tell you I have never met George. Worked with him as he was recommended by a friend.
Everything was done on the telephone and he set up our trip to Greece. Hotels in Athens, Mykonos, Oia and Crete.
On our return I called him to let him know the hotels were all very nice except Crete.
As I recall, he arranged for inter-country flights and the fast ferry Santorin to Crete. That was not a fun trip, as it was rough seas and many people were sick.
Bottom line, I think I only suggested to get a best price off the internet and then see what he could do.
So on our travels to Europe, only 33 trips, if I think I have a worthwhile suggestion, I hang it out there.
If you think it is spam--fine.

OK, I stand corrected.
To Masterphil I would suggest that when you ask any travel agent for hotel recommendations be sure to ask if they have actually seen the properties themselves, and if not what is the basis for their suggestions. I suggest this because more often than not they're just working off a master list and there is nothing more than a commission on their mind, and the more expensive the hotel booked the more money they will make.

If you want first-hand reviews try going to tripadvisor.com to read the reviews left there by guests. You can send them private messages to ask more specific questions. There's nothing better than getting in touch with past guests.

Brother...been there done that! Looking for a different perspective from this forum.
I'm torn between a number of hotels.
I sent them all the same email and one has responded, the other 3 have not.
That kind of gives me an indication of who might have the better customer service.

I happen to know the owners of Canaves Oia personally and i also know that they are taking good care of their customers.
They also look after the prices they give to websites, agents in Europe and overseas, so that different prices can stay in a certain balance.
The fact is that during the wintertime most of the hotels are closed for the winter, and many hotel owners are this very moment in Berlin for the ITB fair, one of the 2 biggest tourism fairs in the world.
If you emailed them, they will certainly get back to you, just wait for a few days. Keep always in mind that the hotel is closed now.

Others in that same category: Oia Castle Aspaki, Ikies, Kirini, Mystique and Fanari Villas.
Regarding the lack of response from these hotels: Double-check your spam/junk folder. In the past some email providers haven't allowed emails from Greece to reach inboxes because of suspected spam, viruses, malware, etc.
