Rethymno (Crete) to Santorini Anyone???
We're planning a mid-May trip to Rethymno, Crete. After a week's stay there, we would like to plan another 4 days on Santorini and seek advice on whether to take a ferry, plane, etc...We will be flying back to the USA from Santorinini, so I assume we will need to fly to Athens from Santorini to get home.
Also, if any of you have been to Rethymno, we will appreciate your suggestions on what to do and see!
There are plenty of postings on Santorini, but please give me some feedback if you have experienced a romantic room with a patio view, nice pool, and full restaurant.--Preferably in the $200--$250 per night range.
Thanks in advance,
cal

You can take a bus to Heraklion. The bus ride is less than 1.5h. From Heraklion you need to take FlyingCat4 (daily at 0945) to Santorini. It takes 1h45m. http://www.hellenicseaways.gr/
There are several daily flights from Santorini to Athens. Check with Aegean Airlines.

In May and June You can wait until you get to Greece. If you want to purchase them at the airport you can go into the Amphitrion Holidays office in the Main Hall. Otherwise just wait until you get to Crete and look for a travel agency with a Hellenic Seaways logo in the window. You can also go online to the HS website and order them over the internet but be prepared for extra charges and limited delivery options.

Thanks for your input...I will most likely wait and check out the schedule upon arrival.
Any dining suggestions in Rethymno?
I'm pretty "well-read" on Santorini thanks to this site!
