Santorini/Crete itinerary help

I have about 2 weeks in Greece--I will be splitting my 10 days between Santorini and Crete. Right now I am scheduled to be in Santorini for 6 days and Crete for 4, should I leave it the way I have it or switch it for 5 days on each island?

I have only been to Santorini but am researching Crete for a future trip. I spent 3 nights in Santorini and hit all the major sites, a 4th would have been nice so I could have slowed down my siteseeing pace. It seems like on Crete (a much larger island) there are endless things/areas to see. I would do 6 Crete/4 Santorini, or 7 Crete/3 Santorini.

I would definitely spend more time on Crete than Santorini. Crete is huge and there is a ton to see and do. It really is like a country unto itself.(Don't know where you're going, but don't bother w/Iraklion.)If you had a full week on Crete, you could split it up b/n east and west. One suggestion would be to spend half the time in Chania, and the other half in Elounda. They're both wonderful.

I, too, would do 7/3--Crete/Santorini. We much preferred the western side of Crete to the eastern, although Elounda is a lovely spot. Western is much more the "pure Crete", IMO.

I agree there's more to do and see on Crete than Santorini - but then - dm03 may just want a rest, and where better than Santorini!?
