I have stayed two times at the Quisisana. Last stay was a year ago in April. Both times, we were on a Tauck Tour. The location is good. When you walk out of the hotel, you are right in the middle of Capri. Easy walking to everything. The hotel is rather large & some rooms of course are better located than others. If you are planning to use the pool, ask for a room near the pool. We liked the restaurant near the bar (off the lobby). The other restaurant was too stuffy/formal for us and was difficult for us to sit for a 3 hour dinner. I think in July the hotel would be fun. In April when we were there, it was a little quite. Enjoy Capri.

One more thought ..
Would you consider a tour since this is your first trip to Italy ? Tauck Tours has a wonderful tour that starts in Rome goes to Positano & Capri & back to Rome. EVERYTHING is taken care of for you. Private tour of the Vatican etc. Transportation, luggage etc. Check out their web site. Really easy flights in & out of Rome. Great hotels.
