I have checked some train schedules and 7 hours was about the fastest. Any other suggestions? Are any low cost airlines that fly that route?

Applefares.com does low cost flights but I
couldn't find anything from Prague to Salzburg. Tried Czech Airlines and I don't think they go to Salzburg either.
I was trying to find a low cost flight between Prague and Munich and wasn't having much luck. Hope you do better!

I don't think there are any budget airlines on that route. Austrian airlines has that route, but you go through Vienna. YOu could fly to Vienna cheaply on Smartwings (one hour) from Prague and then take the train to Salzburg (which is also cheap) which takes around 3-4 hours. I don't think you'd end up spending much less time that way, altogether, but it's an option. Also, Smartwings flights from Prague to Vienna are only once a week on Friday (I think, not sure). YOu can get budget airlines to Salzburg from some other major cities, like London on Ryanair, but I don't think you'll come out ahead.

Any recommendations on the fastest way you know to get to Salzburg from Prague by train, how long?
