help with trip to Italy
I'm going to Italy in three weeks. I am spending three nights each in Florence, Bologna and Siena. I am not renting a car.
Do you think three nights is too long for Siena? Should I spend four nights in Florence and two in Siena? My husband likes to shop and I heard there is not a lot of shopping in Siena?

that's correct. Siena is a charming city, but not many stores...but what are you looking to buy, ...there are good wine shops in Siena. You might want to stay 2 nights in Siena and just do a day trip to San Gimignano. There are definitely more stores in Florence and you go do day trips from there to Pisa or other towns

Hi juicy,
>I am spending three nights each in Florence, Bologna and Siena.<
I think that you have one night too many in Bologna, 2 nights too many in Siena.
Is there a reason why you are not going to Venice?

3 nights in Siena is too much. You would be better basing in a town like San Casiani and then visting towns like Siena etc in the area and taking in a vineyard. I just came back from 3 nights at the Villa Il Poggiale B&B and we visted several towns etc and it was perfect.I am not familiar with Bologna so can't comment on that.

Ira, we've been to Venice before. We like to do a couple of different cities/towns in one trip and spend a few days in each so we don't have to much packing/unpacking. I think I am going to try and change our hotel reservations to four nights in Florence and two in Siena. Thanks everyone for your input. The day trips might be another way to go. Oh, decisions, decisions! (Fun ones though).
