Naxos Hotels
We will be staying in Naxos this Sept. and would like to swim, explore the town (Naxos town) and the rest of the island. A resort isn't our style, we prefer something quiet in mid range and want to be able to walk into town easily (aging feet) I found hotel Argo which looks nice but I'm not sure of its location. Has anyone stayed there or do you have any suggestions. Thanks so much for your help.

We stayed at Nissaki Beach Hotel on St George beach in June '09 and loved it. Great staff, quiet, clean & comfortable rooms, nice pool, bar/restaurant right ON the beach, buffet breakfast, easy walking distance to town.
If that's a little out of your price range, Hotel Glaros is also a popular hotel.
Enjoy Naxos!

I always stay at Argo when on Naxos. Prices are reasonable, and the Greek-Swedish owners friendly and helpful. The hotel is just off St George Beach, and about a 10 minute walk into town. It's located next to Naxos Resort Hotel, which you can find if you navigate around on this map: http://www.skymap.gr/?ElementId=59724&Category=0

I'm finding that many hotels are full-duh, I'm approaching less than a month out. So I'll make reservations at the Argo. Heimdall, that map is terrific-thanks for the link and thanks to you both for the suggestions!

If it is not too late for you try Hotel Spiros. It is right beside Naxos Resort beach hotel, has a pool and rooms with kitchens. It is a good quality budget hotel and is a two minute walk to St George beach and no more than a 12 minute stroll to Naxos town and it's waterfront area.
Here are some Naxos pictures which will show you what to expect.

Stanbr -- love your pictures of Naxos -- especially was happy to see the restaurant picture. We ate there and had a wonderful evening. Could you possibly email me that picture? to [email protected] I didn't take a picture there.

I will have to solicit the goodwill of Lolly Peter to figure out how to send the pictures by E mail I am sure she will co operate but first I have been scheduled to prepare desert now and there is nothing that will distract her from that.
In the meantime here are more pictures. Towards the end of the album you will see lots more pictures of Taverna To Kastro. We will try to include them as well.
