There have been a number of suggestions in fairly recent posts--you could try a search and see if they come up. Have you tried the various booking agencies for hotels in Nice? A number offer discounts.

Under-- Thanks for the advice; yes, I did a search; some are within range and I have researched those to establish a baseline. The funny thing is that when one types Nice in the search box, you get 1,000 post recommending "nice hotels" or "nice restaurants". Makes the search a bit cumbersome

Isn't this the same timeframe as the Monaco Grand Prix? If so, you might have a harder time finding something nice (pun intended) in your price range.
I am going there over Easter weekend, and during my research, saw a lot of hotel websites that said "rates higher for Monaco Grand Prix time".
Good luck,
Mindy

These responses are really helpful and I will check all of them. Regarding the timeline, the business trip will be right after the Cannes Festival and right before the Monaco Grand Prix. I have used Priceline, but my situation gets a bit complicated because my husband uses a wheelchair for distance walking and there is no guarantee with Priceline you will get a handicapped accesible room (although the chances the hotel is ADA-friendly are very high). We traveled to Paris and Amsterdam last Fall and had a great time. Thank you guys, you are tops.

An update to all the helpful posters: I have checked the Orbitz and Travelocity sites; phoned their 1-800/888's. Very helpful, courteous phone service. I am looking into the Comfort Hotel Nice Vieux Port ($84/double handicap accesible). We'll see what else is available.

You might find that the hotel at the port is a bit out of the way for getting back to central Nice. The port is around the cliff at the far end (eastern) of the street that the Promenade des Anglais turns into.
I'd suggest checking prices at the Mercure Promenade des Anglais, which is right across from the beach and quite close to Vieux Nice.
One thing to consider: joining Club France gets you a 20% discount at all the Accor hotels (Sofitel, Novotel, and Mercure) on week-days and, I think, more on week-ends. Membership in CF costs $25. There's another Mercure right in Vieux Nice, too.

We, too, are staying at the Comfort Hotel Roosevelt next weekend (Easter Sunday night). Got it for about the same price as ggbridge, on hotels.com. I'd be happy to let you know what we think of it when we get back.

Hi Chatters,
I always recommend the Hotel Flots d'Azur. It's a great place, right on Promenade des Anglais. You might want to have a look at their web site:

The following is a follow-up to the recs posted (Thanks you all so much!):
Hotel Armenoville: http://www.room-service.co.uk/index....88~bottomFrame I sent an e-mail message that was returned undeliverable (?). The description on the website does not specify handicap rooms, and in fact it reads as if it is not handicap accesible...
www.hotel-durante.com This hotel looks amazing. I sent an e-mail message and still awaiting a response.
I researched all four Best Western in Nice. Only one seems to be within the price range we are looking for. I sent an e-mail for reservation of a handicap room.
Mercure Promenade des Anglais. I have sent an e-mail and still awaiting response. Looks well located.
Comfort Hotel Roosevelt in Nice. No rooms available for our travel dates.
Hotel Flots d'Azur. Looks outstandng. I sent an e-mail message and still awaiting reply.
Your kindness in providing ideas is very appreciated. I will keep you posted.
