London Next Week -Need Hotel Advice

My husband and I booked a last minute flight to London next week and will only be there for 6 days. I am trying to find a nice hotel with these criteria--very quiet, very clean, gueen or king size beds, non smoking, stylish and looking for discount price sites so that we can stay around $200 night. Also want it to be Knightsbridge, Mayfair, Kensingston residential type . Have found avaibility at these hotels: Cranley, Five Summer Place, Chelsea Green, Gallery, Millenium Glouchester, Beaufort and Claverley. Do any of these meet our criteria??? Would love any advice ASAP!!!

Nelly

I can't offer any advice about those individual hotels, but I can recommend a website called www.laterooms.com.

Not sure of your exact dates, but they pretty good rates for the next week or so. They are an advertising site for the hotels that have late avail. Prices vary day by day. You usually call the hotel direct, but occasionally the number is for laterooms. If so, you can ask them to put you through to the hotel.

I'd recommend that you speak to some of the hotels you are considering. Not many places in central London are truly quiet, so it comes down to how good their double glazing is.

I'd also check the bed size - in the UK even at a good quality hotel the beds are often not queen size.

I've just looked on laterooms and two that spring out as being from quality chains are De Vere Mayfair and Radison Edwardian Knightsbridge.........but there are lots of other good names there, too.

You may also want to check the exact location relative to underground stations, bus route.

Have a good trip

Just return from London a month ago. Stayed at Lord Jim Hotel on Penywern Rd.
Fairly quiet, very clean, good size room for London's std, street very bright and safe to walk at night, has ensuite bath and washroom, <5 min walk from Earls Court underground, and very nice friendly hotel staff. Price is 65 Pounds a night, double occupancy. Earls
Court is just outside zone 1, and not too far from Kensington. Price include continental breakfast. It is quite a posh area. Website: www.lgh-hotels.com
E-mail:[email protected] Worth checking
the place out. Good luck

I am thinking of staying at the Thistle Kensington Park in February and the price is very reasonable and rated 4 stars. They have their own website. Hope this helps.

The Rembrandt is right across the street from the V and A, and is near the So. Ken tube station, 5-8 min.walk to Harrods, Harvey Nicks, etc. Our executive twin had 2 beds together to make a king, sofa, very lg. marble bath, robes, etc. It cost us 135 pounds 2 yrs. ago; I recently saw on this forum where someone was getting a room for much less, perhaps the "executive" part cost more. Great location, service, etc; highly recommend.
