I have stayed at this hotel. It is OK but nothing special. It is a large hotel that tends to cater to tour groups a lot. The rooms are plain but servicable, there is a decent bar in the lobby, and the breakfast, if included, is just OK. This hotel, part of the Imperial Hotel chain as I recall, usually offers pretty good rates for London. It is located in a pretty decent area, in Bloomsbury, and Tavistock square is just across the street. Access to the tube (underground) is good. Overall, if you are getting a good price, and you do not demand luxury but just a decent place to sleep in a decent area this is an OK choice. What rate are you getting?

Thanks for the information. I am not sure yet what rate we are getting since the room is being arranged by the conference my husband is attending. Are there other hotels that are reasonable but nicer?

We did not like the Tavistock and moved out after one night; this was about 10 years ago however. The way I remember it is a very large hotel with long, narrow corridors and similar to a dormitory. Lots of tour groups stay here it seems.
Rooms are tiny and baths are older. However, the breakfast was not bad and was in a large breakfast room.

Since you don't know the rate you'd be charged, it's hard to say whether there are others as cheap but nicer. Do you have to stay in this area? If yes, do a text search here for for London hotels AND bloomsbury or london hotels AND russell square.
