last night in Italy near Milan

Will be driving from Santa Margherita early in October w/3 other adults. Flying home from either Linate or Malpensa 1130amish next day. Looking for a last night stay in a beautiful setting no more than an hours drive back to the airport.
Have never stayed in the Lake district area so would be a good look see.
Was leaning towards Bellagio but seems like a 2 hour drive Malpensa...
all ideas/suggestions welcome!

If flying out of Malpensa, consider Orta San Giulio on Lago d'Orta or Stresa on Lago Maggiore.

How can we comment without knowing the airport? I concur with Lago Orta if MXP. Less than an hour--go to www.orta.net

Leave from Malpensa and stay your last night in Arona, a nice village right on the lake and much less than an hour's drive to the airport -- more like half an hour. It's closer than Stresa, though not quite as chic, and it's an easier drive than from Orta. Good luck.

Sorry to get back so slowly to answer your question. Best hotel at a reasonable price in Arona, with a view of the lake, is the Concorde. Phone number is 011-39-322-249-321. Good luck.
