Hotel near Malpensa - Milan

We have a 10am flight from Malpensa April 22 and I'm having trouble locating a hotel near the city center. Is there something special going on?
I searched and most postings for a hotel near the airport are old. Any suggestions or should I keep searching from a Milan Centrale location?
How long does it take to get to the airport from the Duomo area?

Much has been written about that in the past - use the search feature.

The huge Milan International Modern and Contemporary Art Fair ends April 20th.

Where are you coming from before Milan?

One option is to stay in the town of Como on Lake Como and take the LeNord train directly to Malpensa. You can search the timetables here:

http://www.lenord.it/en/index.php

Como Lago to Malpensa Aeroporto on the Milan Branch. Every option involves a change in Saronno, and the differences in the durations relate to the time between trains in Saronno. Look for the shortest connection. 10 minutes is more than enough time. No need for reservations or advance ticket purchase.

Good luck!

Thanks and yes, I agree that much has been written on this topic; however, I'm looking for, perhaps, an alternative to staying in Milan or near the airport. Aren't there some decent small towns nearer the airport which have train connections? We will be comoing from St. Margherita Ligure the previous two days.

With a car, stay at Orta San Giulio or Stresa on Lago Maggiore.

The LeNord train service I mentioned in my previous post also serves Novara which is south of Malpensa. Novara Nord to Busto Arsizio, then Busto Arsizio to Malpensa Aeroporto takes an hour with departures at 6:07 a.m., 6:37 a.m., 7:07 a.m., etc. In Novara, there are two hotels at the train station: Cavour and Europe Novara.

As I know how delicious small hidden treasure near Malpensa it is, I suggest again to stay in Corgeno, on the coast of the small lake of Comabbio and enjoy dinner and bed at the very cute D&B LA CINZIANELLA.
In the morning, after a great breakfast, only 20' to Malpensa Airport (by car).

Thanks all for some alternatives; however, we will not have a car and will be relying on trains. Are any of these (other than Como) accessible by train to Malpensa after a day of sightseeing in Milan? I hope we can stow our bags somewhere in Milan.

Jean you seem to have a good knowledge of the area around Milan and the Lakes. We are planning a trip in September. Flying in to Milan - I think we arrive mid afternoon. We plan to take a train? (thought there was a train that ran from Milan to the lakes via Malpensa) or bus to Lake Maggiore. Any suggestions on mode of travel, cost and small hotels/b&bs not expensive would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
