Italy - What are your "Must Sees?"
My husband and I will be in Italy from June 29th-July 15th and are visting Milan, Venice, Tuscany & Rome. What are your "must see" sights in each city? Any idea if we need reservations?
Thank you so much for your help!

You're joking, right?
To answer to your first question: Even a little research will provide some answers.
To answer your second question: You do realized that those dates are during the height of the tourist season?
(PS: What about all the plans you posted a month ago?)

We've been in the midst of selling our home and desperately looking for a new one while planning this trip so unfortunately we haven't been able to research as much as we should. We have all of our hotels booked, car booked, etc. everything we were working on last month - I do realize that we're going in peak season which is why I thought it was a good idea to try to reserve ahead on some activities with the 1 1/2 months we have until we leave.
I apologize; I should've been more clear in my e-mail earlier. We aren't big museum-goers, but obviously will want to hit some since we are in Italy, but were looking for more side excursions like ideas on which catacombs to visit in Rome, with only a few hours in Milan would you just hit the Duomo, or try to get to Sforza Castle, etc. I think guidebooks are great but have seen similar posts where Fodorites posted their favorite things about various cities and thought that that information was much more useful.
We will hit the guide books - thank you for your responses.

Oh, you mean reservations for the tourist sites, not hotels! Whether you need reservations depends on what you plan to see. So, we're still back to square one.
Your second posting only tell us a little bit:
1. You plan to spend a few hours in Milan.
2. You want to see at least one of the catacombs in Rome.
3. You aren't museum people, but you still want to hit some.
You might start by checking Fodor's 3-day itineraries. There is a least one for Rome. (I assume you'll be in these cities for at least 3 days. You didn't say!)
I'm really not being sarcastic or nasty. I'm just trying to explain why you haven't received much input since your posting 5 1/2 hours ago! We just don't know enough about you and your trip!

It might be better to start a separate thread for each city you're planning to visit, tell how many days you'll be in each, what your hopes and expectations and interests and enthusiasms and prejudices are for each place, what you've already definitely decided to visit, and then proceed from there with your questions. By the way, I assume you know that Tuscany is an entire region, not a city. Will you be staying in Florence or in some other city or town within Tuscany?
