Hotel Welcome, Review
We booked this hotel based on the reviews from this website and another one. It seemend like it would be fun & different.
However, we were a bit disappointed with it.
A gross experience that we had is you have to walk by the trash to/from the hotel, which was such a huge turn off. It actually became a bit funny, because by the end of our 2-night stay we would sprint by the corner...
We stayed in the Japan room the first week of August. The room was dingy and 'top clean'. In other words, it had fresh sheets & towels, but if you took a look around, the floors, corners, walls, etc. were not very clean at all. I understand that during our stay it was unusally hot -- but it made our stay in our room misrable! We were up 3 flights of stairs, and then our room was loft style (with our bed at top floor) and it just made for an awful, hot night sleep.
We never ate breakfast, as we felt that it was not a very clean eating area. The overall feel of the hotel is dingy, cluttered and to our standards unexceptable.
They did not have such amenties (which we hardly think as amenties) as alarm clocks, iron/board, water in the room, etc...
Staff: Upon checkin, we had a young gentlemen who was extremly helpful. He opened up the map and drew in the points of interest, and the best way to go about seeing them. He was helpful with other questions we had as well. There was also another young lady that helped us with some train information, and she was very sweet. Then...there was this other women, who was very unpleasent, who we had 3 encounters with. Do not know her name, but I think she might be the hotel propertier or something of the sort. Overall, she was misrable and unhelpful!
Location: The location was good. A nice 10 minute walk to Grand Place, which was perfect. Across the street from so restaurants (all seafood, seeing this was the old fish market area). The only thing Hotel Welcome has, is its location.
Our next visit to Brussels, we will not be staying at the Hotel Welcome...

You would do us all a great favor by reposting your review with the city in the title--there are many Welcome hotels, including a well known one near Nice. This is the kind of report that people will want to read; just make it easier to locate.

I agree -- many people like reviews, but your review would be much more helpful if you gave the rating and price you paid to put it in context. Some of the things you state are the norm for 2* hotels, for example, and I'd think someone unreasonable for expecting otherwise (ie, an iron and board in the room -- actually, I don't often have that in higher level hotels, the rooms are too small).
I presumed you meant the Welcome Hotel in Paris which is a seen-better-days 2* hotel. I'm that that even in the country which you may have selected for cataloguing, there are probably many Welcome Hotels. I think (but am not sure) that is a 3* hotel. I don't usually get irons and boards in the room in a 3* hotel, and I don't think usually an alarm clock, either (which is more of a modern hotel thing, in my experience -- I don't want one as I always have my own).

Underhill's comment should be well taken. I kept reading, wondering where on earth is this place -- half guessing it was somewhere in Japan and this was put on the wrong board. Finally, in the 8th paragraph, the secret of the location is revealed!

I apologize for confusing any readers.
The Hotel Welcome is located in Brussels, Belgium.
I ended up just copying/pasting this from a review that I posed on TripAdvisor, which had all the necessary information in other fields.
Not sure what the rating is for the hotel, I believe it is a 3*.
We paid $135USD, which is not expensive, but did at the very least expcect a clean room.
