Hotel Adler in Rome? Or other recommendations?

My husband and I will be in Rome for 3 nights starting New Year's Eve, with 3 adult friends (everyone's first time there). The 5 of us have been researching decent, inexpensive hotels for awhile now and have come up with Hotel Adler. I have mostly read good reviews of it, but I am still unsure. It's near Termini, but supposedly is fairly safe. Has anybody been there that knows?
Other than that, can anyone recommend a hotel that is: a)convenient to most sights and b) cheap? By cheap, I mean for a double room, less than 100 Euros. I wouldn't be opposed to staying outside the city center as long as it was still convenient to buses and metro and not more than 10-15 min. into the city. Thanks!

The Panda is near the Spanish Steps and fits your budget.

Also check http://www.eurocheapo.com/Rome .
Needless to say, you probably want to reserve a cheap place quickly.

The Eurocheapo site lists Panda also, I think.

Found the Hotel Aberdeen and booked a double room today for 93E in January. It is near the Termini but in a safe area. All visitors have given it a good rating. The hotel was very prompt and helpful in answering my request.

We stayed at the Hotel Des Artistes near the Termini last May. Nice, clean, fairly conventient, good breakfast, and safe.

Hotel Aberdeen often has a Rick Steves discount, which is worth asking about.

We stayed at Hotel Adler last year and would stay there again. The area felt very safe. A big plus was that our room faced an inner courtyard and therefore was very quiet. The bathroom was tiny.

Okay, guys, I started a new strand: Hotel Panda near the Spanish Steps to get input to my new question. I appreciate Joyful's review of the Adler. I'm not throwing it out yet! Thanks for all your suggestions!
