HELP! Are there rooms with twin beds in Santorini??

We are taking our grown boys (young men, actually) to the Greek Isles this summer and plan to visit Santorini. I am having a hard time finding accommodations that offer more than one bed in a room. Are we going to have to book a separate room for each boy? I have looked and looked. Can anyone suggest a hotel on the caldera that will accommodate our family? I'd b e so grateful . . . .

Which village do you prefer and what is your maximum daily room budget per person? Are you looking for one room for you and your partner and another for the 2 boys?

Yes, we'd like 2 rooms. My first preference for village is Oia, second Imerovigli . . . but at this point, I don't feel that I can be too picky! Thanks.

End of May. I don't know about the budget. The prices are all over the place!

We had twin beds in our room at Volcano View Hotel, and the view of the caldera as you step outside onto your private terrace each morning is spectacular. This hotel is 5 minutes by car from Fira, but the hotel provides a free shuttle back and forth several times a day.

We also stayed at Volcano View and the room we were given was actually a suite. It had a bedroom with a queen sized bed, large bathroom, and another room that had a single bed, sofa ( which I believe made into a bed) and also small kitchenette. It was an end unit. As Grandmere said it is a short distance from Fira, which we did walk a couple of times, but mostly used shuttle. Lucky young men! Great vacation!

Almost all hotels have both rooms with double beds and rooms with twin beds. What you have to do is be SPECIFIC when you inqure about booking, ask for a room with 2 single beds, or a room with one double bed for a couple. I find you get more infomration if you use the hotel e-mail on a website to write a letter with full details, rather than filling out a booking form. Be prepared to follow up, if you do not hear from a hotel, this is their off season and they do not check their e-mails every day.

In May of 2008, I stayed at Strogili in Oia in a 1-bedrm cave house apt., and it had a double bed in the bedroom, and one double bed and one twin bed (daybed) in the living area, for a total of three beds (sleeps 5 max).

Good value, great view, nice pool, highly recommended. There were only 2 of us, so we felt like it was a lot of space (we loved having the separate bedroom for extra privacy), but I think a family of 4 would be ok there too.

I agree, be very specific about how many BEDS you need, not just how many people in your party.

Oops, I see now that what you really want is two separate rooms, one with a double bed and one with twin beds.

Yes, there are plenty of places that have two twin beds in one room. Just ask and be specific: TWO BEDS (twin). Repeat it every time you confirm. We requested two beds all through Greece and managed to find it everywhere, although sometimes it would be a double and a twin.

It's precisely because prices are all over the place that I requested you state your maximum daily room budget.

Please let me know what you find. I'm hoping to go there this summer with our college age son.

We had a suite at Alexander's Boutique Hotel in Oia which had a bedroom with queen bed and another bedroom with twin beds. Wonderful full kitchen and living/dining room. Great balcony with spectacular views of the caldera. Highly recommend the hotel, but it's not cheap in high season.

We are also traveling to Santorini and will be staying at the Old Oia Houses. The house we are staying in has a loft bedroom with two twin beds, small living area, efficiency kitchen, and another bedroom with a double bed. Also has a beautiful balcony with caldera views- sunrise- although sunset views are right around the bend....all of this for only 110 euros per night- late June. If you go on tripadvisor, you will get a lot of advice on hotels as well- that is how I searched for all 3 of the hotels are staying in during our trip.

This is kind of funny because I don't know how many times our 'matrimonial' bed has been two twins shoved together. grrrr.....
