Heathrow to Fingerprint ALL Travellers

going far beyond america's fingerprinting of foreign visitors, heathrow will fingerprint even britons taking domestic flights.

there has been a lot of criticism from fellow europeans on america's fingerprinting (even boycotts!) so i'm curious how people feel about this.

WRONG - Users of T5 who are going to get domestic flights will have to be fingerprinted as the "powers that be" that designed T5 "forgot" to separate domestic and international travellers.

Don't know why the Torygraph has just suddenly discovered this though as the BBC reported it in September and The Times in December

this is NOT a response to a mistake in design at T5 and i think you know this. it will be rolled soon rolled out from t5 to t1 and to other uk airports (expected to be universal in a few years). so how can you say this is due to a mistake in design at t5? weird.

anyway, what do you think about it?

the old news that you cite is about t5, the new news is that it has nothing to do with t5 design but a broader security initiative. methinks our government 'floated' the idea in the autumn by blaming it on design. t5 design is NOT the driver as it becomes very clear now.

Very very happy! Only a person with evil intentions would balk at the idea of being tracked & traced.

It isn't BTW as they are only fingerprinting people transferring to domestic flights rather than everyone entering the country and the data is "supposed" to be destroyed immediately - unlike the US where it will be kept for a very long time

alan...forgive me for being completely confused but you are telling me i'm wrong and using the government's story (spin/lies?) as the basis for your arguments...yet you are putting this spin in quotes ("supposed", "forgot&quot as if you don't believe it yourself. so i have absolutely no idea where you are coming from here. impossible to have a discussion when you are just going around in circles.

quite typical behaviour from many here though....whatever mother england does is a-ok and will be defended with non-nonsensical arguments.
