Accomodation in Dubrovnik

I'm having a problem finding accomodation in DBV in the old town for May 29-31.

As we are only going to be there for two nights, I'm wondering if I should keep trying to find accomodation in the town or just stay outside 2 km or so.

Any opinions? We will have a car.

Thanks,

I've never stayed in the old town but always outside. However, the last place I stayed at was just over a block from the old town and absolutely zero stairs. It was an apartment for only 50 euros - very clean and pretty with A/C. I would highly recommend it. It is called Dubrovnik Dream. My husband and I stayed in the Ragusa Apartment.

May I suggest that if you do find a place in Dubrovnik not to keep a rental car? It would be a huge detriment. We always travel and end up in Dubrovnik and as soon as we arrive we lose the car.

Last Sept we stayed at the Hotel Zagreb right on the bus line, only a 10 min or so ride to the old city. Nice hotel, good breakfast. Maybe you've tried it and no luck?

Thanks for the info.

From what I've read I had the impression it was best to stay in the old town.

I'll check out your recommedations.

We will lose the car when we get to Dubrovnik.

I have stayed inside and out. On 1st trip, stayed just outside/above outside old town up many stairs (no complaints)--the view was amazing!

Many places online are seeking longer term stays, you could probably easily book something upon arrival by going directly to a tourist office and telling them what you want.

On 2nd trip, was only there one night and so stayed in old town for convenience and something different. If you do so, make sure it is on a back street for quiet. Con is you forgo the views. Def. lose the car.

go to the tourist bureau in the main street of the OLD TOWN
leave your car in ulice zagrebacka near the supermarket konzum there is a vacant lot which acts as free parking
failing that there is paid parking down near the old town too

ask for niko and ivanka who own the pizzeria castro in ulice jesuite in the old town
they have a studio apartment in the old town with a kitchen but it does have steep stairs to get up
they let us have it for 150 euros for three nights
( 70 aud a night...cheap!)
try to stay in the old town ...its soooooo great
atmosphere is wonderful..and its clean ...so different a town!
there will be accommodation along the road for sure ...look for zimmer signs or sobje...but they will charge you as much as the people in the old town will...
no problems about booking in may ..it will be cheaper than june when we went
dont stay out of town!
ploce is nice but very expensive
cavtar is 16km away and you can see dubrovnik from there
i really do think you wont have to book
i wish i had the number of these people that i stayed with...so kind they were
even had the fridge stocked for us with the basics..gorgeous old building in a narrow street of cobblestones
i have their pizzeria on a map here...'pizzeria castro'..the gunduliceva poljana 5

the tourist bureau in the old town is in place stradun..if you found their number ...theyd know niko and ivanka...everyone knows everybody!
lots of stairs to get down into the old town by the way
do the town wall walk one day but take the car to montenegro ( take some euros to pay about 15 i think for the insurance over the border..they wont take kunas) and go see kotor fjord and budva ...magic!easy day trip!
enjoy
croatia is so friendly and clean and cheap!!

I just stayed at the Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik for 4 nights and it was wonderful. Had a gorgeous view of the sea, old town. A quick 5 minute walk to the old town. Wonderful facilities.
