lodging in dubrovnik

2 couples are looking for an apartment in Dubrovnik and we ran across Artemida Apartments. The price is very resonable and just outside the old town. Has anyone stayed here? We are looking at Apartment Silva. Any help will be appreciated.

I much prefer staying within the Old Town walls.

My family of 4 stayed in this apartment in June 2007. http://www.dubrovnik-online.com/house_oldtown/

It was very spacious, clean and just one flight of steps up from the Stradun.

If you stay outside of Old Town Dubrovnik, you will likely need to climb 4-5 looong flights of stairs to get to your room. Maybe, you don't mind this, but we liked being closer to the "action".

We also stayed here in June 2006 and loved it! http://www.karmendu.com/

These apartments are smaller but decorated with a flair. The location is excellent!

Have fun! Dubrovnik is beautiful!

We love to stay just outside the old town at http://www.accommodation-dubrovnik.net/index.html . We stay in Apartman Ragusa for only 50 euros for (includes a cute little upstairs loft). No steps involved. Zero. Only about a block and a half from the old town. Owner speaks great English and is fantastic.

Can you tell me which unit did you stay at and perhaps any further info/impression about your apartment besides being very small. Is the location so much better than staying outside of oldtown like at the Excelsior hotel? I need help from anyone about location as I've never been to Croatia. Thanks

Hi DAX,
Sorry, I was so slow to reply. I was on vacation in Florida last week.

We were in Apt. 2, the one with the balcony. If you look at the website, you can tell what the apartment looks like. We thought it was very cute and comfortable.

The balcony does not have much of a view but we sat there daily for coffee or an afternoon break.

We especially loved the location of this apartment, which is walkable without hills, to anywhere in the old town.

Mark, the owner is originally from England, so there is no problem speaking English. He was very prompt with emails.

I hope this helps. If you have further questions, I would be glad to help.

Laurie
