Good Hotel?

I'm going to paris next week and I'm still looking for an hotel that's close to the metros and easy way to get around the city. Unlike some people on here I cant afford 250 Euro a night so no 4 star hotel for me. I've come across this hotel "Best Western Opera Grands Boulevards" for about 70 Euro a night. Is this in a good neighborhood? Is the hotel okay. I've read so many tripadvisor and I just want to know from some people on here.

I was checking out the Mercure "Hotel Reference Paris Porte de Pantin" Is that also in a good location? Easy access..

Thanks.

I've decided not to go with the very small family own hotels.. I'm a motel 6 person so rather just have a room to sleep in rather than to hangout in all day.

Thanks all. Oh, I plan on spending 4 nights in Paris.

I wouldn't stay out by Porte de Pantin - all locations with "Porte" mean they are at the very edge of Paris...

Look at these couple of hotels - they are in your price range and in a much better location, more central, and had good comments on Tripadvisor.

Hotel Flor Rivoli
13, rue des Deux Boules, Paris 75001
Single shower (with WC) 70.00 EUR
Double room - single occupancy 75.00 EUR

Hôtel Sévigné
2, Rue Mahler - 75004
1 person : 65 euros (ask about rooms with A/C)

I only pay around 100 euros for hotel rooms in Paris myself, it isn't difficult. The Grands Boulevards location would be fine, I like that area fairly well. The Porte de Pantin would not be, it's on the edge of Paris, much too far out.

It is still August and many hotels should have lower rates and vacancies because August is low hotel rate season.

Not sure about your comment on the small family hotels and not wanting to hang out in the room, those seem like contradictory comments, as many people think small family hotels are for people on the budget who don't want much as they can have small rooms. Of course, it's too broad a statement to mean that much, and FYI many of the Mercure small hotels in Paris are just small family hotels that Mercure has bought up. So I really don't know what you are getting at in that regard, but if you are saying you don't mind motel 6ish furniture, I would recommend you look into what is available at the Ibis chain in Paris. that should be perfect for you -- cheap, motel 6ish, and they have several large hotels with lots of rooms so probably have a vacancy.

Look for the one around Bastille or Cambronne.

Try the Excelsior in the 5th. 3 blocks from 2 different metros.

Try Hotel Lyon Mulhouse near the Bastille. Clean, safe and very reasonable. Convenient to metro - left out the front door and a few buildings down on the same side.

I'd be panic stricken if I was leaving next week and didn't have a hotel secured. I wish you luck and happy travels.
