Gatwick to Sheraton Skyline at Heathrow

Gatwick to Sheraton Skyline at Heathrow
We are ending our month long incredible journey of Norway, England and Italy. We leave in 2 days from Pisa to Gatwick and fly out of Heathrow the next day. What is the best way to get from Gatwick to the Sheraton Skyline hotel at Heathrow? We have more luggage than we came with and don't want to walk a long way. Hope this is clear, as I am at the hotel lobby's computer! I'll check back for your usual brilliant suggestions!

Take the National Express bus from Gatwick to Heathrow. The driver will place your luggage in the compartment.
Once you arrive at Heathrow, the National Express bus will let you off right where the local buses are. Because the Sheraton Skyline is on Bath Road and within the no-fare perimeter, you can take the local buses for free to Sheraton Skyline. Just keep watching (it's a few stops) and ask the driver. Several of the local buses go along Bath Road - take a look at the Journey Planner at http://www.thetube.com - or just ask the driver.
Alternatively you could walk to get a taxi, but really getting a free local bus is the easiest considering that you only have to walk a few steps.
I did almost this exact journey, except I went to Holiday Inn Ariel very close to the Sheraton Skyline.

A private car transfer would probably be the best. It may cost ~60-75BPs per car. You should be able to arrange the transfer at the airport or do a search here for some agencies that others have used.
Another possibility is a bus transfer. It's 12BPs per person and it runs very regularly. Check www.nationalexpress.com for schedules and directions. You will also have to taqke a taxi from the bus terminal at Heathrow to the hotel as the hotel does not have a shuttle service. It should not be more than 10BPs.

<b>willtravel</b> is correct. The local bus will take you to the hotel but drop you off on the street, not in the driveway of the hotel. It is free within the airport area, but the only reason I did not suggest it was because I have this impression that you do have a lots of luggage so that may not be the best option.

Yes, the Hoppa will take them to the Skyline for £3 each. For 3 or more pax, maybe even just 2, I would still think about a car service, for the sake of bag handling and general hassle level. The bus+Hoppa bit can be pretty tiring if you're tired to begin with.

The reason I ask is because we will be arriving at Terminal 4 around 8:00 PM this coming September and will be staying (thanks to Priceline) at the Sheraton Skyline.
I had no idea about the public busses, only the Hoppa Bus. The next morning we are picking up a car at National (which I believe is on the North Perimeter Road..or something like that..and I assume we'll take a taxi directly there).
Anyway, thanks very much for all this additional information.

Sadly, you are therefore condemned to Hoppa Hell.
The bus doesn't run from T4, so you have to claim bags, go to the HEX station, unload the bag cart to get your bags onto the platform, take the HEX to T1/2/3, get off, carry the bags out to the tunnel, find a cart, load the bags, trundle the cart some great distance through the tunnel (which, by the way is crowned so that the carts don't roll straight) to the lifts to your chosen terminal, ascend to the Hoppa stop, wait with the smokers for The Bus You Want, which may be the first Hoppa that comes along, or may be the last, 0 to 30 min., load your bags onto the bus, pay your three quid each to the driver, enjoy your brief tour of Heathrow, eventually get to the Skyline, unload, wait in hotel queue, and get into your rooms, something like an hour to an hour and a half after leaving the T4 bag claim.
OR, you can brave the scorn of the taxi driver who isn't getting a big fare, insist on being taken straight from T4 to the Skyline, probably for around £12-15, and save the Hoppa for another time. Like, maybe, never. Never works for me. Does never work for you?

Gardyloo: this is EXACTLY why I posted my last message. I am very content to brave any scorn from any driver because unless he flat refuses then his scorn is totally wasted on me and the money I am paying for this ride. And if s/he is smart about it a decent extra will come with that "low" fare.
At 8:00 PM at night or later I do not relish the idea of trying to find a bus that doesn't exist or going to another terminal at Heathrow to save a little money...so thank you for your insight.

Oh, and BTW..I won't need any luggage carts; travel only with rolling carry-ons...I've been to Heathrow too many times and waited at the carousels too many minutes to do it any other way.
I just wish I were landing at Gatwick but a sale fare is a sale fare I suppose LOL!
