From car drop point to Praiano?

If we drop our car off in Sorrento (or would Salerno be a better choice), how do we get to Le Sirene in Praiano? Is there a bus that will take us to Praiano? We will be there in May.

luvlimonchello,

You can take the SITA bus to Praiano. I know it has 2 stops in Sorrento, probably more. It stops right in front of the Circumvesuviana (local train) station and more in the main downtown area. I would ask the rental company for a suggestion!

You will love Le Sirene. It's lovely, relaxed, dead quiet. The owners are very kind people. I've stayed in Praiano twice and like it because it is a more real town. Very few tourists and not all the touristy shopping.

Be sure to have dinner at La Brace!
Buon viaggio!

Thers is a bus in Sorrento that goes to Praino and stops near the hotel. Be prepared to walk about 100 steps down to get to Le Sirene. The hotel is worth the walk. The views from the terrace in each room are fabulous. I also highly recommend the restaurant La Brace. We loved the town and the owners of the hotel are great. The bus service in Praino is great, we were able to go to all the towns that we wanted to by bus.

Thanks Dayle and tdk, I am sooo looking forward to our stay at Le Sirene. I chose it based upon the feeback from those of you on Fodor's that have stayed there. And La Brace is also on my list of restaurants for the same reason as above! I plan about 90% of my trips based upon Fodorites' suggestions!

Were it me, I'd definitely consider dropping the car off in Salerno and either taking a ferry to Amalfi or Positano or the bus (you'd need to switch in Amalfi).

You would see a spectacular portion of the coast.

If you are traveling on a weekend day, the ferry might be faster.

In May the roads won;t be that crowded and I would just keep the car with you. Assume you will want to see Pompeii and various towns up and down the coast - much easier by car as long as your hotel has parking spaces - than waiting for buses that may be crowded and take forever.
