FCO area hotel with shuttle to airport?

I am looking for a reasonably priced hotel ($100-$150 at most)I can stay in for my last night in Italy before flying back to the US. I need something with a shuttle to the FCO airport (early am flight). The Hilton at the airport is ~$300 per night! HELP!!!

I did an extensive search and came up with the Holiday Inn. It's about 115 Euro per night with breakfast -- probably won't have time for breakfast as our flight is 9:30am. We'll probably take the train into Rome the night before for an early dinner, then back to pack.

The Holiday Inn EUR is showing a rate of 130.00 Euros or about $ 162.50. I have read in this forum that it offers a shuttle service to the airport, but if your flight is very early, you might want to check it out to make sure.

I would recommend staying IN Rome. Rome is wonderful from 6-8 pm to the wee hours of the morning. You're just going to sleep on that long flight home anyway.

Cabs to the airport are really quite affordable. Traffic not a problem for really early morning flights.

Best wishes,

Rex

Try the Hotel Alimandi near the Vatican. Very reasonably priced and free shuttle to the airport.

Try the Four Points by Sheraton, the Sheraton Roma, or Courtyard by Marriott (new, not sure if open yet).

Thanks! The Cancelli Rossi shuttle service does not begin until 7am for airport runs, and unfortunately I need to be at the apt by the ungodly hour of 6:30am. The website has great info and the hotel is really close to the apt. e5.00 for the shuttle. I'll keep this in my Rome file along with the other suggestions.

cduke, you have a flight that early? I would recommend you stay real close and take a taxi.

In March, we stayed at the Cancelli Rossi our last night in Rome because we had an early flight like you. Even though the proximity to the airport was great, we would not stay there again. The hotel seemed dingy and dirty, and our room was not clean. We would've been more comfortable sleeping at the airport and wished we had spent a little more to stay at the Hilton or somewhere nicer. Just our opinions, maybe others had a better experience.

Have a great time in Italy!

We got reservations for September at the airport Hilton for 185 Euros which is around $220 or so. Their website says they have a free shuttle to central Rome which means you can enjoy a last night on the town and still stay next to the airport.

A few years ago we stayed at the hotel Roma. They have a free shuttle It is in Fiumicino. The hotel was fine, the town, not great, but we arrived late and got up early. It was $100 for three at the time.

Hi cd,

For your very early flight I suggest that you stay in Rome and have your hotel book you a taxi - about 40E.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Eur. It is very nice, but a cab from the hotel will cost about the same as from in the city.
