Catania to Sorrento

Hello.
This site is absolutely fantastic.
This is my first post.
I am heading to Sicily in May/June, part of a world trip, with my Girlfriend.
Was hoping i could get some advice on the best possible way to get from CATANIA to SORRENTO?
I am in Palermo for 4 nights and Catania for 3 Nights but have committed to meeting someone in Sorrento. Where we will spend 4 nights.
Any MUST DO's in this region of the world. History, places to eat, adventures ETC.
Thanks in Advance..

From Catania to Naples you can take an overnight ferry.

Fly.

Train (takes 8-9 hours).

From Naples on to Sorrento, you can take the local commuter train Circumvesuviana which leaves from downstairs of the main train station in Naples.

Kybourbon

Thank you so much. I really appreciate the quick response.

I knew it was far, i think i am now convinced to break it up somewhere along the way.
If you have any suggestions on that i would love to hear otherwise again i really appreciate the quick detailed response.

Well the best and fastest way will be to take a flight and you can also take train but there is not much difference between the fares of flight and train so it’s better to take flight. There are lots to do in these places but Sorrento coast is must to see.

If you plan to train, you would have to pick one of the stops listed.

Another option is taking a train to Milazzo and ferry to one of the islands (Lipari?, Stromboli?) if you have a couple of extra days. You can ferry on to Naples from the islands. I would double check schedules as they might not have full schedules until June and may only run a few days a week.

There's also a bus from Catania airport to Milazzo, but you would need to take one early enough to make the ferry. Scroll to the bottom for the Catania/Milazzo schedule.

The Circumvesuviana train from Naples to Sorrento.
