Best means of transport from CDG Paris to a hotel in the city
Hello,
What is the best means of transport from CDG Paris to our hotel in the city, especially during late night? We will be landing in Paris at 11pm.
Would you recommend SuperShuttle or a taxi?
Thanks,
Anu

Taxi from the official taxi queue. Do not accept offers from clandestine drivers soliciting from within the terminals.
Late at night, expect to pay 60€. Have your destination address written on a piece of paper to hand to the driver. Taxi drivers are usually not tipped. I leave a euro or 2 if the driver helps with the luggage.

I would recommend you to take a taxi but taxi driver would not allow to carry more than 3 passengers.
Sorry jessicamartin, Parisien taxis can carry up to 7 passengers. Taxi G7 calls the biggest taxis Maxicabs.
You may confirm the information by referencing the Taxi G7 website:
www.taxig7.com
You could check cheaptaxiparis.com
This company is not a regulated Parisien taxi company. I recommend only using official Taxis Parisens which are regulated by the Préfecture de Police and bonded for passenger transportation.
Here is how know you are dealing with legitimate Parisien Taxis:

At that time of night just grab a cab - since you will likely be exhausted and other options may not run on any decent schedule - remember you will be walking out of the airport at least 30 minutes after you land.
Take official Paris cabs only - the official dispatcher will get one that meets your needs. And there are different size cabs including ones that can carry 4 adults plus luggage if needed.
And agree to have the name and address of your hotel written down in case your driver doesn't understand your pronunciation of the name (if you don;t speak French).

A taxi
because it takes you directly to where you want to go and
it doesn't have to drop anybody else off first
it leaves immediately after you get into it and
you don't have to wait for it to arrive at the airport before you use it.

I have done it all:
Train
Bus
Cab
Car
Uber
If you don't have a ton of luggage, take the train. It's so easy, affordable and the quickest way to go.
You can get dropped off right at the St. Michel station in the heart of Paris.
During our last trip, we Uber-ed. It was a fabulous experience. We used the CDG airport Wi-Fi system to call uber.
Our driver was right outside, in a gorgeous car w/ the ubiquitous Uber peppermints to offer. Traffic from CDG to Paris is always heavy so it was a long haul but it was the most pleasant commute into the city we had.
We also hired a pre-arranged car through a trip we booked via Costco travel. That was probably the most challenging service. While the car itself was fine, he was late, we had no way of communicating with our driver, except for the international Costco travel number which was difficult to access, at the time, with our cell phone (this was about 5 years ago).

There are taxis available for any number of people--Jessica. Go to the taxi queue and the taxi master will get an appropriate size. At 11 at night==take a taxi. Who knows how far you are from a train station where you would come out. A shuttle would cost more than a taxi for that number of people.

How much faster is the train than a taxi? Sorry for jumping in but we were wondering the same thing. I will be arriving in the morning (redeye flight) with two exhausted tweens. I speak some French, but I'm not fluent. We would need to find the RER station, locate and queue up for the correct clerk or find a machine and understand the instructions on it, and purchase a ticket (since our transportation pass will not be active yet). I'd like to take the train if it is a much faster ride, but not if we're going to have difficulty due to a lack of fluent French. Thank you for any further thoughts on the topic.

The train is not any faster at all. Once it departs the station, the train can have a rather good CDG to the nearest métro station en route time but unless you are staying at a métro station, you´ll need to walk to your hotel from there. Then there is the walk to the train station and the ticket line.
Point to point, door to door, a taxi is very often faster than is the train.
