I will be flying from IAD to London in May with a return in early June. I have just started tracking fares and the fare sites are all saying book now as fares will rise. I'm trying to gauge if ~$570 is a good fare? Usually I track flights for a bit before purchasing but given the results I am getting on the sites I am wondering if I should just purchase now? Thoughts?

The fares are great now. I think it's largely due to the fall in the pound and the euro.
Is that a direct flight? Great price!

Is $570 the round-trip fare with all the taxes and fees added, that is total price of all your airfares, for direct flights? I don't see anything in that league by looking at usual suspects - kayak, expedia, BA, etc, but you might have found date combinations and a booking site that offered an outstanding offer.

Well, actually it was $583 on UA when I booked. The return fare in June is higher than the outbound in May. Beginning on May 11, the fare goes up ($217 to $367 without taxes and fees). Per the various apps, I could have gotten lower on priceline, but I never use them.

How long is your visit.. and are you planning to visit other countries too? ( Paris would be an easy visit by taking the Eurostar, only 2.5 hours city center to city center)

I had really just started reading guidebooks, TR's and talking to friends, but had not gotten very far. We'll be away 5 weeks. Would like to go to Scotland perhaps for a week of the time. We will be in Paris next month, so no visit there. We'll start in London for 5-7 days. Any suggestions of where to go within England?

5 weeks.. with that long I could easily do Scotland, Ireland and visit about 3 other places.. lol

Its all personal tastes.. so you are on your own .. sorry.. I love UK but 2 weeks would be tops for me there.. London, maybe Bath , Brighton and Oxford.. I am not really into wandering the Cotswalds or Cornwall etc.. but those places seem pretty popular ..

PS.. you can NEVER do too much Paris.. months of it on end and still not see it all or visit the nearby places.. Loire Valley, Chartres ,Reims.. etc etc.. and visit the Normandy coast or go south to Riveria..

Love Paris and we go often and I agree there is always much to see and do. We enjoy hiking /walking and looking forward to spending time in the Cotswolds.
