Accomodations in Siena

I'm indecisive as to where to stay in Siena. I'll be there for 3-4 days for my honeymoon. I can't seem to deicde between staying at a hotel or maybe a B&B, villa, farmhouse.

Based on your past experiences, what would you suggest.

Well, are you driving? If so, stay on the outskirts of Siena or in the countryside nearby. There are few B&B's in Italy and most villas--that is, self-catering acommodations--require a minimum of 1 week.

If you aren't driving, stay in a hotel inside the walls of Siena.

We faced the same decisions when planning a few days in Siena. The most recommended place was Palazzo Ravizza, a highly rated hotel within the city walls. It has a convenient parking lot unlike the other "inside" hotels. Check it out at tripadvisor.com.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Continental a couple of years ago. The hotel was expensive but wonderful and the location and the staff were great. Being a couple of blocks from the square was perfect for us. I just checked trip adviser to confirm the name and it seems like most agree.

We faced the same decision a few years back and decided to stay outside the walls bc we had a car and wanted to easily take day trips. We stayed at Frances Lodge and LOVED it. I can't rave enough about the place. Franco and Frances were great and Franco even picked us up when we got helplessly lost trying to find the place (our fault, not theirs). It's 2 minutes away from the bus into the city (10 minute ride) so getting into the city was not a problem. Their website is Francelodge.it.

Wherever you stay make sure it's inside the walls. We have been to both Palazzo Ravizza and Grand Hotel Continental. If it was my honeymoon I would choose the Continental, no contest. I probably would have liked the Ravizza more if the room air conditioner was able to keep the room cool. When in Siena be sure to make dinner reservations at Osteria le Logge.

Thank you all for your response. I have a couple more questions.
Would you suggest staying inside the walls or outside?
Also, if we were to stay inside the walls, would we need a car?
