Borgo Grondaie Hotel -Siena??: Anyone recommend this hotel???

We are considering Borgio Grondaie Hotel as a base for 5 nights in Tuscany with a car.
There is an apartment with 2 bedrooms and it has a pool. Is it comfortable place? Can anyone recommend this or another place? It is just outside the city center, it seems. This could be good or not good.
We are looking for a place to see Siena, have wonderful food and access to streets and town to walk. But we also would like (husband with bad back, daughter, 22 , and I) -- to have an opportunity to see hill towns, explore! and also be together and relax, eat well, drink good wine....
We will be in Venice and Florence before this. We will fly out of Rome.
Please give any recommendations! By the way, highly recommended Hotel Palazzo Ravizza is sold out. This is 3rd to 4th week of May. Thank you again. You are all such wonderful help!!!

I have no personal experience at this hotel. We returned a car at the Hertz office on nearby Viale Sardegna, and I can tell you the property is definitely outside of the city center. There are no restaurants or shops close to the hotel. It would be an easy walk to the train station where you could catch a bus to the historical center of Siena (or you could take taxis), but the location is on the opposite side of Siena from the 'main' highway so you might encounter a little more traffic leaving and returning to the city. Siena definitely has 'rush hour' traffic.

I would keep checking with Palazzo Ravizza. You might get lucky.

We've stayed here a few times. A little hard to find (up behind the COOP and the train station). You probably won't be walking to town from here too often. Even with the escalators up, it's a hike from this hotel. We did catch the bus up the hill, but if you're looking for easy access to the city, this probably won't be that.

Yet, we knew that having stayed there before. We took advantage of the pool, the larger rooms, and the parking. This served as our base for exploring the region. When we intend to spend our trip in Siena (my wife's favorite city), we stay in-town.

So if you're looking for a getaway with a great pool and views of the city walls, this is it. If you're looking for convenience, as mentioned... this is NOT it!

Thank you so much for the information. We are very torn between staying in town to have access to Siena itself and staying outside town and easy access to exploring the area.
Any recommendations on hotels in Siena to consider would be appreciated. Palazzo Ravizza is booked so far.
Thanks again so much.

Try Hotel Santa Caterina, or Hotel Athena---both are nice hotels.

I really understand why you are torn; when visiting our daughter who was studying in Siena several years ago we were able to split our time between the Palazzo Ravizza and the Borgo Grondaie, and I would highly recommend both. Too bad Ravizza is booked. To get the feel of being IN Siena, you shoud stay inside the walls. But if you chose Borgo Grondaie to have easy access to both Siena and Tuscany daytrips, you will not regret it, it was a very charming and comfortable place.

I stay in Borgo Grondaie many times for work. It is a very amazing place if you search nature and charme very close to Siena. it's relaxinf and the park is fantastic. I think that is better the relax after the tours in Siena. Also ... breakfast is very huge, everythink you like, and the price is Just for all services you can take.
