Hi bringonitaly,
You may also want to visit some mountain areas or head out for a mountain hike. If that's so, head for Mittenwald or Garmisch-Partenkirchen, about 2h by train.
Have fun as you plan!

If interested Munich has some notable Third Reich relics - home of the Beer hall Putsch!
http://www.tracesofevil.com/search/l...r%C3%A4ukeller - tracking down the actual beer hall today.

Watch surfers in the Eisbach, a small man-made river in Munich that flows through the Englischer Garten.
Visit The Viktualienmarkt, a daily food market in the center of Munich - 140 stalls offer just about every type of food you can imagine.
Take a day trip to the Zugspitz or Ludwig's castles.
Our favorite places to eat on our most recent trip were Orlando (for afpelstrudel and drinks), Restaurant Opatija and Der Pschorr. Yum.

Personally after staying in Munich many times I like two full days here would be enough for the average traveler - maybe 3 tops. Do some day trips - Salzburg Austria is just 90 minutes away by train - one of Europe's most exquisitely gorgeous cities = Fussen and Mad Ludwig's Neuschwanstein Castle, which the German Tourist Office says is the #1 tourist site in all of Germany!
Or to the Zugspitze - Nurnberg to track down the most extensive remains of Third Reich relics in Hitler's old parade grounds, kept in tact - Rothenburg - yes you could spend 5 days in Munich but I'd do a few days trips which I think most would enjoy more than two more days in Munich -not that you could not spend weeks in Munich as in any town.

Drink lots of beer! The south of germany seems to be the most beautiful in my opinion, which would be convenient for you coming from Austria. Munich is a great city, but you should try and pop around to different areas here and there. I highly recommend Rothenburg. It is more north, but totally worth it. A true fairytale town. Everything looks like you are literally stuck in a fairytale book. Very nice people and great photo opportunities around every corner. Or perhaps you may want to wine taste along the Rhine River, that will indeed warm you up on an October day. No matter what you do, you will have so much fun. Be open minded and enjoy!
