4 Days in South of France
We'll be arriving in Nice approximately four days before a bike tour of Provence departs Vaisons. We'll be traveling in mid-September. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to spend these four days? We are twenty-somethings who want to take these four days easy before a lot of biking!

You can visit sights around Nice via local transportation: the Fondation Maeght for modern art, the Matisse Chapel in Vence, the Matisse Museum in Nice. Count on a day of travel to get to Vaison-la-Romaine, if that is where the bike tour begins.

Do you mean Vaison-la-Romaine?
Are you flying into Nice? If not, don't head for Nice, head for Avignon on the TGV from Paris and use those four days to explore the Bouches-du-Rhône and the Lubéron - no need to be two hours farther away on the Côte d'Azur and have to backtrack to Vaison-la-Romaine.

So we will be spending the first two days before the bike trip in Avignon. Does anyone have any tips on particularly special things to see and places to eat there??
Second, after the bike trip we will have three full days to explore on our own. The trip leaves us back in Avignon. Where to next? Aix-en-Provence, somewhere else? Any help on advice on filling these three days would be great. Thanks!

If you're interested in Roman history, then certainly a visit--by train--the the interesting city of Arles. If you have time, go to the amazing Pont du Gard and the ruins of the citadel at Les Baux.
