the real scoop on July weather in the Caribbean
My husband and I are hoping to take a resort trip to the Caribbean in mid-July. We have looked specifically at Aruba, Curacao, and St. Kitts and the Marriott resorts there.
But we are concerned it will be extremely hot. Websites say avg. high is 85-88 F.
Is this accurate? What's been your experience? Thanks!

Yes, they are accurate, and trade winds fan you all the time. It will be more comfortable than mid-summer in most of the eastern and southern U.S. Just be careful with the sun, which will be directly overhead with clean air, so you can burn easily--wear lots of sunblock and stay in the shade on the beach.

go to this site: http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/
at the top of the page is a bar of 'features' - click on trip planner.
for location enter airport codes. aruba is AUA, curacao is CUR, st. kitts is SKB. enter the dates you wish to travel and you'll get a synopsis and then scroll down for several years worth of recorded data.

It's definitely hotter in much of the Caribbean during July and August, but it's true that it's not all the the Virgin Islands, Jamaica, and the DR in July, and it was hot. The real difference to me is that it doesn't cool down as much at night. But the trade-off is much more comfortable water temps, which are important to me. I'd much rather go to the Caribbean in May, June, or July than January.

Ok, my post became garbled. What I meant to write was that it's also true that the weather is warm year-round. girlonthego is completely correct that the temps just don't vary that much. I've visited the islands I mentioned in my post in July, and the temps were hot but bearable (to me, at least).
