The drier islands are the ones which aren't lush, such as Aruba, Caymans, St. Barth, Anguilla.
The very lush islands like Jamaica, St. Lucia and St. John get quite humid (and buggy).
Depends on what you want.
The trade-off is that prices go down during summer, so you get a better rate for putting up with the extra heat/humidity.

It's also a matter of perspective: where are you coming from? The islands in July are much more comfortable than a "normal" mid-Atlantic summer (hot, muggy, hazy). And during this "abnormal" year -- cold and drowning in rain -- the islands sound good too! The closer you get to the equator, the less variation there is in high temperatures over the seasons, so summer is not especially hotter than winter; what varies is rain and wind patterns, with winter being windier and summer being rainier. Even so, the cooling tradewinds and the moderating effect of the sea keep things pleasant in the summer.
