Sunscreen and the Exumas

I'm heading back to the Exumas this spring. Was hoping to travel carry-on only, but there's one major impediment: SUNSCREEN. From 20 years of experience, I know that finding sunscreen in the Out Islands can be a hit-or-miss proposition. Does anyone know whether Club Peace and Plenty has a gift shop where I can buy some? Or whether there's a decently-stocked shop past security in Miami where we can get some? (We won't have much time on land once we get to Exuma, since we'll be boarding a sailboat for the rest of the week.)

There is a very good grocery store very close to Peace & Plenty - just south of the straw market over the bridge. They will definitely have sunscreen.

And it will be very expensive (possibly twice as expensive as at home).

We head for Hopetown on Friday but would love to charter a yacht in the Exumas at some stage. We couldn't find a charter company that covers the Exumas. Are you chartering or on a private boat?

Callalou- I am also interested in the answer to markrosy's question! I hope you have a wonderful time- do you have a set or tentative itinerary or are you playing it by ear? I can't wait to read your trip report! I bought a 6 or 8 oz. tube of sunscreen in Staniel Cay at their tiny gift shop and it was about twice the US price but worth it because I had packed what I usually do for the beach and needed something stronger. Have a great trip!

If you are heading south - would love to know what Sandy Cay is like off the end of Hogs Cay. The phots look like beach porn! Have an ambition to make it there one day.

We will be on a private boat -- our sistership -- with friends. And the immediate plan is to sail north from Georgetown to Warderick Wells and the Land and Sea Park, and then back to Staniel Cay (where we will charter a flight back to Georgetown). Nothing is easy in the Exumas!

I have learned of two options to charter there, however. First, if you have the time and the resume, I understand that Florida Yacht Charters' base in Marsh Harbour will permit qualified sailors to take their boats as far as the Exumas. And closer, there is a small charter company in Nassau (the name of which is buried somewhere in my emails) that allows the same.
