Sandals or Club Med?

Please help my husband and I decide on which AI to go to in the Bahamas: Sandals Royal Bahamian or Club Med Paradise Island.

We want to go in mid to late August (I know, hurricane season.) Our goal is to do a lot of lying around, relaxing, some water sports like snorkeling, parasailing, etc. Also, we love nice pools, maybe with water slides. We don't like really fancy food--maybe once during the trip is nice, the rest of the time we'd like to eat basic foods like pasta, burgers, steaks, pizza, salads. We hope to have a nice white sand beach where there are enough waves to boogie board (we're beginners) but not so many waves that average swimmers would be bowled under. We might venture out of the resort once or twice, mainly to shop or eat out once.

We are concerned about the hurricane risk, but I don't know how concerned we should be. How common are they? Please advise.

I can only comment on Sandals as I have not been to the Club Med.

Sandals is very beautiufl - the grounds are immaculately maintained and very lush. It is the type of resort in that it can be as laid back as oyu want it to be or you can do as much as you want as they provide activites and entertainment around the clock.

If oyu like pools, they youwill like ti thee. The two main pools are huge and very impressive indesign. They are really the focal pointof the resort. great pool bars that over look the beach and loved the misting pool area. The beach on the main land is small but lovely - very clear with calm blue waters. We loved the off shore island as hardly anyone went out there during the day and the beach there is very tropical in feel. No waves at all but good snorkeling and great for water sports which are included (except jet skiing and poarasailing but youcan still do that there)

Food should notbe an issue for you. There are several main buffets for breakfast and lunch, snacks through the day and night and the selcetion is huge but still never a problem getting a burger and fries.

The town area of NAssau is great - excellent tourist type shopping and tons of casino'a near by.
