Place to stay in Antigua
Hello ! My boyfriend and I just booked our trip to Antigua - first week in March. We have yet to settle on a place - we have decided on either Siboney Beach Club, or Pineapple Beach Resort (all inclusive). Anyone out there who can give us any input from experience ? Many thanks. Betsy.

You might ask on the Antigua & Barbuda website's newsgroup: www.antigua-barbuda.org

You really don't nee dto do an all-inclusive on Antigua. It's not like Jamaica; you need to get out of the resort and see the country! Plus, there are so many wonderful restaurants that it would be a shame not to try them. If you can do a MAP, which is partial-inclusive, that will be a much better value for you.

We honeymooned at Pineapple Beach and can't say enough good things about it. It was fabulous. We had a gardenview room. However, if we walked out onto our porch and turned our heads to the right, there was the beach. We found the food to be excellent as was the service. And contrary to what Christie implied, we did get out and see the island. Staying at an all-inclusive does not mean you are chained to it. The staff will be more than happy to assist you. We have since recommended Pineapple Beach to several couples, all of whom had a great time.

Just returned from the most relaxing vacation in Antigua, staying in a very nice apartment in a small, quiet hotel. It is interesting how most posts are about all-inclusives but we enjoyed ourselves immensely as there are so many interesting things to do, restaurants to visit and people we met. We can't wait to go back and will definitely NOT go all-inclusive.

My fiance and I are planning to get married in December. We have both been married before so we are having a quite, but romantic ceremony without any family or friends.
We were recommended to visit Antigua and ahve chosen the Siboney Beach Club for a venue. Does anyone have any recent advice? We would love to hear from any couples who have done it already.

I agree with previous posters that the place to stay in Antigua is Galley Bay. It was the first time I had stayed in an adults-only resort (no children under 16 allowed except for Xmas week), and it was heaven. I like kids and have one of my own, but this type of vacation--total relaxation and pampering--is best experienced sans children. The rooms, beach and food are all first rate as well. There's not a lot of nightlife although there is entertainment nightly but it's not a "hot spot" for partyers. What a find...can't wait to go back in March!
