Jamaica vs Punta Cana

A couple of questions. Thanks for all of your help!

(1) Which of these areas has the best beaches for snorkeling & clear, warm water in early July?
(2) Which has the better all-inclusive resorts
(3) Where are you less likely to be "hassled" on the beach
(4) Is the beach near the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Montego Bay the same as Negril? Sorry for the uneducated question, but I've never been to Jamaica.

Thanks!

Negril is the name of a town. It's about 1 hour away from Montego Bay.

Punta Cana is the name of an area of developed tourist resorts in the Dominican Republic. Jamaica is an entire island.

1) Snorkeling isn't that great in either place, but you can easily get to a good snorkeling spot (probably a bit easier in the DR). I think the snorkeling around the Rocks in Negril can be pretty good.
2) AI resorts can be good in either place; it depends entirely on the resort.
3) Again, depends on the resort, though most people think there is less hassling in the DR. I don't find Negril that bad; just say no, and they'll usually leave you alone.
4) No, the beach near Rose Hall isn't anywhere near as nice as Negril Beach. But the Iberostar is a nice resort and brand-new.

Yes, but Port Antonio is very difficult to get to and has no AI resorts like the poster asked for. It's a great place, but absolutely not for this poster.
