Which Couples Resort?

I am considering at staying at one of the Couples resorts in Jamaica (spare me the Jamaica bashing PLEASE). Here is what I'm looking for, in order of priority: 1) great beach - this is where we spend 95% of our time, 2) watersports - we love the catamarans! 3) comfortable room (doesn't have to be fancy) 4) decent food (again, nothing fancy just edible .

We don't even have to leave the resort except for maybe a little shopping. We go on vacation mainly to relax on the beach. Thanks in advance for any help!

Any of the Couples Resorts are very comfortable and first class.

Couples Ocho Rios is a little older and majestic and the town of Ocho Rios is available for shopping. Beach isn't quite as nice as Negril.

Couples Negril is on a very quiet stretch of a great beach in Bloody Bay, nice grounds, very good watersports and a very good resort overall. Catamarans are available as is diving, snorkelling and other water sports. Shopping available as part of the AI on an escorted tour - in Negril.

Couples Swept Away is on a very nice stretch of 7 mile beach, has very good watersports including the catamarans and very good food. It has the best fitness facility in the Caribbean with a great gym, spa facilities and superb tennis. Swept Away is a little smaller with unique rooms (understated and tropical) with very nice verandas for lounging. Shopping is available as part of the AI - escorted to Negril.

All of these resorts certainly have better than decent food - we think the food is great.

We highly recommend these resorts and prefer the two in Negril.

Regae - I seem to remember asking for no Jamaica bashing. I have read enough about the crime in Jamaica. I have a coworker who spends time at least twice a year in Jamaica and is actually there as we speek exploring the entire island. I have never heard him speak of the crime being so bad. In fact, I would think that he would warn me before visiting.

I live in America and we have snipers killing civilians. I can name plenty of corners I can buy plenty of drugs on in my town. And I live in the biggest city in the state. I asked for opinions on Couples resort, not to hear about the statistics on crime in Jamaica so spare me.

COUPLES NEGRIL IS FANTASTIC!!!!

We just returned from Couples Negril last night, and I do NOT have one single complaint, okay well maybe one, and it is that we had to go home! The beach at Couples is well maintained, and raked and cleaned every morning first thing, the water is clear, and the sand on the bottom is soft as can be! We also went Kayaking, Paddle Boats, took the sunset Catamaran cruise (highly recommended), the glass bottom boat ride, and the sailing...all fantastic. The rooms are comfortable, and in my opinion decorated stylish, with a different flair to it..I thought they were great and stood out! Lastly, the food is very good, especially the jerk chicken and jerk pork, and my boyfriend loved the salmon (I am not a seafood person, so...lol)..But most of all, it is the attitude and the friendliness of the people there that I value most! Have a great time!
