Help please,

I have a 2 year old and a baby on the way and need to get away this summer... I don't care which island, but we'd like a resort with kids programs for infants and toddlers not just a baby sitter..

You could check out the The Franklin D Roosevelt Resort in Jamaica (their website is fdrholidays). They provide a nanny AND kids club for pre-school children. I haven't been there myself but with a new baby this hotel may suit your needs. Also Club St Lucia by Splash in (suprise!) St Lucia has a supervised club for children aged 3 months to 3 years.

I looked at FDR and it's soooo expensive, but I will check out Club St. Lucia... Nowhere takes kids less than 2 it seems to me!

Check our Our Lucaya in Grand Bahama (www.ourlucaya.com)

The resort includes a Sheraton and two Westin hotels which share 3 large pools and lots of restaurants. The Sheraton is less expensive and considered the "family" side of the resort. There is a Camp Lucaya that older kids can attend for half- or full-days and younger kids/babies can attend for no more than two hours.

We went in October with a 3-yr old and 1-yr old and had a nice time. You'll find mixed reviews on the various websites but we thought it was a good spot to bring young kids, it was easy/inexpensive to get to from the east coast, and a good value compared to places like Atlantis. There weren't many kids in the camp when we were there (off season) and we didn't use it because my parents were there to help out with the kids but I'm sure it's hopping during Spring Break.

We went to Club Med-Ixtapa when our kids were really young and their kids programs were outstanding. We have since been to a number of islands and resorts, and none had the same quality and safety. The other all-inclusives are fun, but their staff do not tend to speak english, and their security measures are extremely lax (Iberostar, Allegro). Club Med divides the kids in small age ranges (0-2, 2-4, 4-7, etc.) with separate facilities/pools/staff for each. Then, when your kids get older take them to Grand Cayman and St. John like we did! Also, the larger chains like Hyatt charge a fortune for their programs - and quality varies by location.

I totally agree about Club Med Ixtapa. I took my daughter when she was little and she was in a great show and did trapeze work. They were great with the little ones - always had them in the shade in their little cribs. That was years ago so I guess you should get a more recent opinion but the staff there was the best.

We took our then 2 1/2 yr old to Playa del Carmen last April. We stayed at the Gala and it was the best vacation we ever had. It is all-inclusive and even the kid club is included. (It is also one of the few places that takes kids under 4.)We could drop off our son for a few hrs or more and then pick him up for naps. They even feed the kids lunch and will put them down for naps if you like. The food at the resort was great and the restaurants where you make reservations were even better. There was so much to do in Mexico (took a day trip to chitzen-itza sp?). There was a wide range of ages from families with kids of all ages to honeymooners and grandparents. If you would like more info I would be glad to share. OUr suite shared a small pool with 6 other rooms. It was hardly used and was nice when we wanted to hang out near the room.
