Airfare and weather

What is the weather like in the Cayman Islands in June? We have an opportunity to go there around the middle/end of June. Also, why are the airfares so EXPENSIVE. I just checked on line and it looks like $700+/person!! Thanks for any input.

Here is a link to WeatherUnderground which will give you the weather in the Cayman Islands. About halfway down the page in the middle column is a place labelled "Historical" where you can enter a past date to see what the weather was like. So just enter some June dates from last year, and you will get an approximation of what this June's weather might be.

Hope this helps.

Steve

http://www.weatherunderground.com/gl...ons/78384.html

Hi there -

I, too, am going to Cayman in June and I've been watching the airfares forever! There are six of us going which brings the airfare to about $3,000 - which I'm not willing to pay. I noticed you don't have any replies about airfare - but have you discovered any cheaper way to get there? I'd love to hear from you if you have - and I'll do the same should I find out something. I did try Priceline - but my offer was rejected (I think I went too low).
Thanks!
I just wanted to chime in. We're taking our second trip to Cayman in one week. The first time we went, we went in March for $299. This time we're paying $449. The tickets were very high when I began to look a month or so ago. It was a bit of a last minute type trip for us. Anyway, I found it was cheaper to get a flight down to Miami, Fort Lauderdale, etc. and then catch a flight on Cayman Airways down to Cayman. I saved over $100 doing this. It will be a hassle coming back because our connections are only 2 1/2 hours apart seeing as though we need to claim our bags, clear customs, and then recheck in with our domestic carrier. However, for the savings of over $200 for the two of us, if we have to stay over in Miami, we're ok with that. We look at it as an adventure. My point is that you may want to look into something like that, esp. if they're charging $700/ticket. Cayman Air has a web site with daily schedules posted, too. It might be worth checking out, esp. since it's the low season there in June. I know they fly into the above mentioned cities and fly out of one Texas city as well (maybe Houston?). It might be an option for you. Hope this helps!

Tia

Well, we did end up paying $700+ on usairways, but only had to buy one ticket because we used frequent flyer miles for the others. I was afraid to wait any longer because we already had the ff tickets on hold. I will keep looking to see if the rates go down and maybe get a credit voucher from the airlines if the same flights are open. I did that with our trip to London last fall and used the $40.00 credit voucher for this ticket. We are staying at a place for free so I figured we could splurge for the one ticket. Never imagined it would be so expensive, but didn't want to pass up the opportunity to go. Our flight has one connection in North Carolina so hopefully it won't be too bad.
