Where to stay at Lake Louise

I am in the process of planning a week long trip to canadian rockies, I am trying to choose between the Post hotel and the Fairmont Hotel at Lake Louise. Anyone have any opinions on that? Also, would love any suggestions on what was your favorite thing to do while there.

The location of the Fairmont is vastly more appealing than the Post. However, I prefer the rooms and food at the Post. Tough choice! You really can't lose either way.

My favorite thing to do inthe area (headed there myself this summer) is hiking at Lake O'Hara.

We stayed only at Fairmont, so I can not compare. We love the hotel: very elegant lobby and breakfast room, large room (we have lake view), the gardens, the breakfast - all!
We asked for wake up at the sunrise, so we could make photos from our room, of the lake in the light of sun. It is something that can not be described: the color of like and the image of the mountains mirrored in the lake is changing each minute!

I appreciate your help with this, I think we will stay at the Fairmont, but have dinner at the Post Hotel restaurant, which I heard is excellent.

If you're around at lunchtime, we had a very enjoyable lunch in the casual restaurant at the Fairmont. The menu is a little more unusual than your typical hotel coffee shop, and the views are, of course, to die for.
