If you fly out early in the a.m., You can't beat the Fairmont at the airport. You wouldn't want to hang out there during the day however. Otherwise consider the Granville Island Hotel- great location on Granville Island.

We've stayed at 4 different hotels in Vancouver but the one that we have returned to for a 2nd stay is The Listel on Robson. It is away from the busiest section of downtown: towards Stanley Park, an easy walk to English Bay, and the sushi resto across the street is outstanding - but requires advance reservation.

Fairmont Waterfront Hotel is across the street from the cruise terminal and Pan Pacific Hotel is part of the cruise terminal itself. These are both close to bus service and within walking distance to downtown, Robson Street area, also not far from Stanley Park. Not sure if the new light rapid transit system is in operation to the airport yet but if it is, it's just down the block from both of these. These hotels usually have special rates for the cruise season. Also just heard that Coast Hotels--The Coast Coal Harbour--have a new hotel located at 1180 West Hastings St. which is also in the cruise terminal neighbourhood.
