In August we went to Newfoundland and stayed at Comerford's Efficiency Apartments in Holyrood. It was really nice, but being a distance from St. John's, we wanted to consider a place closer to the city. Has anyone ever been to The Greenwood Motel? It is rated 2 1/2 stars just as Comerford's was. The price is certainly right for a teacher and a musician. We would like to go back yearly, but need to find good lodging that our salaries will handle.
Thanks.

I'm interest in a reply to this too (for June 2005).

What is your approximate daily target $$ for accomodation?
I have friends with an inn at St Andrews you can check out
www.rossmountinn.com
I just booked a room with private bath / full breakfast at "Oh What a View B&B", right on Signal Hill.
$85.00 per night was the cheapest room for two.
Thanks all. Looking forward to our trip.
Hi again gannetmusic! We did go last summer and had such a wonderful time seeing the province where I was born that we are headed there again this summer... nad hopefully every summer until I can retire.. or until they want teachers in Newfoundland. Since my husband is a musician and I am still just a teacher, and we want to be in the Avalon area for 2 full weeks (in addition to one week spent coming across from Port aux Basques, we need to look at prices. Now we don't want a dive... but keeping it around $70 would be nice.. were also hoping for an efficiecy type place where we could cook and save some money on meals out. Vacation on a shoe-string budget...so we can save our money for the Scademia, the O'Brien's tour and things like that.
