Ingonish for 4 days?
Is it crazy to fly into Halifax from Washington DC on a Wednesday, drive to Ingonish and stay 4 nights, heading back to Halifax to fly home on Sunday?
I think it's about 4 1/2 hrs?
We were in Cape Breton about 26 years ago. I would love to go back and just hang out, drive around and hike in the National Park, eat Lobster, eat Lobster and eat more Lobster. I'm really craving Lobster!
I'm choosing Ingonish at the moment as Lantern Hill and Hollow looks nice.
Thoughts?

Wrenwood, no it is not crazy to spend 4 nights in Ingonish after flying to Halifax from Washington DC! But then, Ingonish is my favorite place in the world so I may be slightly biased.
Do you have a direct nonstop flight from Washington to Halifax? What time do you arrive in Halifax on Wed? What time does your flight leave on Sunday?
When are you thinking about going to Halifax/Ingonish?
Allow about 5 hours from Halifax Pearson International airport to Ingonish.

We can get a direct flight from IAD, they arrive Halifax a little before noon local time. Problem as I'm looking is the 2 non-stops leave Halifax around 9:30 AM.
We would be going late August.
Thought about Halifax area but we are rocks/crashingwaves/ocean people, not sailboats and beaches.
Any other ideas?

Well, to make that 9:30AM flight on Sunday you would have to leave Ingonish on Saturday & overnight in Halifax. So, you would have 3 nights (Wed/Thurs/Fri) in Ingonish which is still great. And, you would have most of Saturday too. Head back to Halifax around 4:00PM ( or earlier if you do not want to drive in the dark) & just stay @ the Hilton near the Halifax airport. Drop your rental car @ the airport & take a shuttle to/from the hotel.
