Is it better to fly to Moncton or to Halifax and then drive to PEI?

We live in Toronto and have rented a cottage near Souris in PEI. We don't think we have time to drive there so are considering flying to Moncton or Halifax and then driving the rest of the way. Which city makes more sense and how long would the drive take? Thanks for any input.

I fly Toronto/Halifax on a fairly regular basis. Have never flown Toronto/Moncton. My gut tells me that the availability of flights Toronto/Halifax wld be greater than Toronto/Moncton & therefore less expensive. I may be wrong. You wld have to check this. From Toronto, you have Air Canada, Westjet and Porter all flying direct/nonstop into Halifax multiple times a day.

So, for me, that wld do it. The availabilty of flights.

Also, Halifax is a far more interesting place(to me) than Moncton.

I am sorry but I know nothing of the distances from Moncton/Souris vs Halifax/Souris. As you probably know, PEI is a geographically small province.

Where is your rental cottage?....I mean, what is the closest major town? Perhaps you cld fly to Charlottetown.

I meant to add, you cld ask the owners of the cottage what they think. Would they prefer to drive from Moncton or Halifax to get to their cottage? They know the area best.

souris PEI is closer to the ferry than confederation bridge. Having said that, either Moncton or Halifax - buy the best ticket price! Driving from Moncton to Souris - it is only an hour or less across the province.

FOr groceries ... I would stock up in a larger centre - not a lot in Souris.
