How go Olympic plans in Vancouver/Whistler

Just curious...how are the Olympics-related projects going in Whistler/Vancouver? Haven't heard anything in the news.

I haven't really heard much either, other than some rumblings of budget problems (spending more than the budget by quite a bit, not a big surprise)...no news is good news I suppose...

Things are generally on-track (some even ahead of schedule) and close to being on-budget.... at least that's what we're told.
Although now that the roof of BC Place Stadium has collapsed in one of our many windstorms, there are rumblings about it causing trouble for the Opening Ceremonies....

Construction on the improved and streamlined highway to Whistler (along the current "sea-to-sky" route) continues, with the usual inconvenience for drivers in the area. One of the big projects well underway in anticipation of the 2010 games.

Thanks for the updates! Hope Whistler has decent snow. I've been watching some of the European alpine sports on tv (mostly biathlon) and boy, are things brown.

Whistler Blackcomb is on-track for the best ski season in 20 years- all the bizarre weather we've been having here in Vancouver has meant that they've been getting huge dumps of powder up at the resort....
Bizarre to see the city skyline without the dome up... I hear that they've already ordered the replacement panel for BC Place and it should be repaired some time late this week or early next week.
